George Stanley and Mark Mushet have wrapped production of New Star’s latest foray into filmmaking. The result is a gorgeous and entertaining 6 minute clip about Stanley’s recent book, After Desire. It features a “video poem” about Vancouver’s 2011 Stanley Cup shenanigans (“Why do they riot”), an interview with Stanley, Colin Browne’s thoughts on Stanley and After Desire, and beautiful shots of Stanley’s Kitsilano stomping grounds. How many buses can you spot?
And given the ubiquity of those buses in Stanley’s work, it’s only fitting that a poem from After Desire, “I’m waiting to write,” will be gracing BC buses as part of the ABPBC’s 2013 Poetry in Transit program.
