George Stan­ley (After Desire; Van­cou­ver: A Poem) takes a break from work on the man­u­script of his new book North of Cal­i­for­nia St., forth­com­ing in Spring 2014, to return to the city of his birth lat­er this month for a series of read­ings and talks.

San Fran­cis­co State Col­lege Poet­ry Cen­ter is host­ing an open work­shop with Stan­ley at 4:30 pm on Thurs­day, Octo­ber 24 at the Poet­ry Cen­ter, HUM 512. Admis­sion to the work­shop is free. Two days lat­er, on Sat­ur­day, Octo­ber 26, George Stan­ley and Lewis Elling­ham will read at the Merid­i­an Gallery, 535 Pow­ell Street (above Stock­ton). The read­ing gets under­way at 7:30 pm; tick­ets are $10 / $5 slid­ing scale.

You can catch George Stan­ley in Van­cou­ver on Octo­ber 16, before he heads for the Bay area, when he reads as part of the Simon Fras­er Uni­ver­si­ty Lunch Poems series at SFU Har­bour Cen­tre. George will be read­ing with Brad Cran. The read­ing is at noon in the Teck Gallery, and admis­sion is free.
