Islands of Resistance in Monday Magazine
Victoria Launch Saturday, June 12, 7:30 pm, Camas Books
2010.06.11 — The current Monday Magazine contains an article about Islands of Resistance, the first book about pirate radio in Canada.
It details some very recent history of pirate radio during the Vancouver Olympics in February. After threatening them with a $25,000 fine - the highest fine that can be given out for such activity - Industry Canada reps shut down a pirate radio statio that was broadcasting from the Vivo media arts studio for less than 24 hours.
Read more about pirates in Victoria here. And don't forget the Victoria launch is tomorrow, Saturday, June 12th, 7:30 pm at Camas Books."
